Livedata Limited is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, in alignment with the UK Government's Net Zero by 2050 target, the Climate Change Act 2008 (2050 Target Amendment) Order 2019, the Northern Ireland Climate Change Act 2022, and the NHS Net Zero ambitions which guide our health-sector work.
We are a small, UK-based, female-led software and data platform company. Our business is knowledge-based: the significant majority of our emissions arise from purchased goods and services, business travel, home/office energy use and cloud/hosting infrastructure. Our reduction plan focuses on these areas and is reviewed annually.
1. Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline reporting period: 1 August 2025 – 31 January 2027 (most recent 18-month reporting period). Our baseline was established during this period using the UK Government's conversion factors and the free UK Business Climate Hub carbon calculator. Emissions have been calculated on a full-time equivalent employee (FTE) basis and adjusted for headcount changes.

Note: figures are calculated on a best-effort basis using the most recent Government conversion factors and will be refined annually as data quality improves. Emissions are averaged across the 18-month reporting period.
2. Current Emissions Reporting
As our baseline was established within the current reporting period, our current emissions are reported at the same level as the baseline above (10.0 tCO₂e / year). Subsequent annual updates will show the trajectory against the baseline.
3. Emissions Reduction Targets
In order to continue our progress to Net Zero, we have adopted the following interim carbon reduction targets:
- 2027: Reduce absolute emissions by 25% against baseline (target 7.5 tCO₂e / year) through cloud efficiency, travel reduction and supplier engagement.
- 2030: Reduce absolute emissions by 50% against baseline (target 5.0 tCO₂e / year), aligned with UK interim Nationally Determined Contribution ambitions.
- 2035: Reduce absolute emissions by 75% against baseline (target 2.5 tCO₂e / year).
- 2050: Achieve Net Zero (residual emissions offset only where genuinely unavoidable).
We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 6.5 tCO₂e / year by 2030 through the measures below, a 35% reduction, with remaining reductions delivered through supply-chain decarbonisation as our hosting and hardware suppliers transition.
4. Carbon Reduction Projects
Completed / In Progress
- Cloud hosting optimisation (2025–26): consolidated hosting on UK-based providers with right-sized instances and automated scaling, reducing compute energy per project. Our platform default is UK jurisdiction hosting with efficient virtualisation.
- Remote-first working model: the majority of our team works remotely, eliminating most commuting emissions; office energy use is minimised.
- Digital-first delivery: all documentation, reporting and communications are digital, eliminating print and paper emissions.
- Hardware lifecycle management: we extend device lifecycles and refurbish/reuse equipment (including social-value device donation at refresh cycles), reducing embodied-carbon purchases.
- Travel policy: default to rail and video-conferencing; air travel only where essential and offset-free because we first avoid it.
Planned
- Supplier engagement (2027–28): require our top suppliers (hosting, hardware, connectivity) to provide their own carbon reduction plans and publish verified energy data, and favour suppliers with published Net Zero commitments.
- Renewable energy sourcing (2027): move office energy to a renewable tariff and require green-energy certification from hosting providers.
- Evergreen Sustainable Supplier Assessment (2026–27): complete the NHS England Evergreen assessment and implement its recommendations, aligned to the NHS Net Zero ambitions.
- Emissions reporting automation (2027): implement quarterly emissions tracking using the UK Business Climate Hub tools, improving data quality and enabling live reporting to clients.
- Electric vehicle transition (2028–30): transition any company vehicles to electric as leases renew.
5. Declaration and Sign Off
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with the requirements of PPN 06/21 and the associated guidance, and the requirements set out in PPN 006 under the Procurement Act 2023.
